I'm inspired by your tank actually, and really want the root to be exposed and used as part of the decoration and hide out for the smaller fishes It was just a pod when i gotten it, with no roots nor leafs. Do you think they will continue to grow without the roots buried in the soil/sand?

Those roots look like they were buried in mud before. Consider trying to approximate that in your tank. Since mangroves are higher plants, their roots are made to take up nutrients from the soil. You could plant it in a pot and put that in your tank, for more flexibility. Some thoughts. Good luck!
