Auto flush valve questions
Been a little obsessed with my rodi unit lately, after having issues with a older unit.
I have a new 6 stage now and was thinking about adding a auto flush valve to it. My source water only has a tds of 67-68. I was thinking of adding a auto flush valve to the system to eliminate having to manually flush the ro membrane each time I turn on the source water to refill the 32 gallon top off container or to make 60-70 gallon of water for a water change. I usually flush the membrane for 4-5 minutes, but have forgotten to close the flush valve and let it run for much longer in the past and I would like to automate this step. Will the auto flush valve do this for me? http://www.buckeyehydro.com/auto-flush-valves/

Yes - the auto flush valve with automatically open and close the flush valve 18 seconds every hour of run time.

I primarily need it to do the initial flush after it has been sitting idle. Is 18 seconds enough? Or am I looking at this for something it's not designed to do?

Are you wanting this flush function to address TDS creep?

OK. I think you have confused a FLUSH VALVE, which goes on the waste water line and is designed to scour the membrane, and a DI BYPASS which goes on the RO water tube which is designed to address TDS creep. They are two very different things that do two very different things.

I see people say you need to black flush the membrane before running the water through the di,,,,, so I thought this was it.

I understand. There are many, many people of Reef Central who are confused on this topic.

Was hoping there was a device to automate the tds creep/flush procedure and remove my forgetfulness from the equation.

Funny you say that. We have a working prototype on the bench as we speak.

I would also be very interested in this! I had thought about using two solenoids and an Apex in the past but I don't have the Apex any more and have a small tank so I don't make large batches of water. I would love something automatic.

Thank you for all the great service over the years! I hope you can come up with something. I'll snatch it up in a heartbeat. I'm also going to be placing a big order with you sometime soon. I want to change out my RO membrane and I want a giant chloramine filter. I might need some help with getting the parts for the giant filter and plumbing it into my existing unit. I'll holler at you when I'm ready!

Yup 100% interested in this also.
I don't know how many times I've turned my unit on, turned on the valve going to the DI resin, come back a couple hours later wondering why I don't have any water in my barrels? My dumba*s forgot to turn the DI bypass valve off
